    Spent the last 16 hours preparing to speak for this Friday, may God’s name be glorified! “Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ,” “known and read of all men.” 2 Corinthians 3:3, 2. In every one of His children, Jesus sends a letter to the world. If you are Christ’s follower, He sends in you a letter to the family, the village, the street, where you live. Jesus, dwelling in you, desires to speak to the hearts of those who are not acquainted with Him. Perhaps they do not read the Bible, or do not hear the voice that speaks to them in its pages; they do not see the love of God through His works. But if you are a true representative of Jesus, it may be that through you they will be led to understand something of His goodness and be won to love and serve Him. – steps to Christ

    I walked in the room, she was reading book with a yellow cover titled The Help. I asked her what she was reading and she gave me a short description of the plot. She told me she was waiting for her husband to come visit her that day. Madeline had tried her best to get out of bed, and get dressed even with a pelvic fracture and enduring a great deal of pain, she was insistent to be dressed up, her husband was coming to visit her today, as he does every day. The nurse assistants hesitantly and carefully dressed her fragile body. On the cabinet was a picture of the couple with beaming smiles on their wrinkled faces. Moments later an older man slowly stumbled in the room with a cane in one hand and a yellow rose in the other. Mitch took his brown gatsby cap off, and tucked it away as he walked toward his wife with a smile. Mitch took a seat next to Madeline who was glad to see him. Mitch looked at me and said with a chuckle “did you know she’s turning 39 today?!” Embarrassed in not having wished her a happy birthday when I walked in, I admitted that I did not. Curious I asked them how long they’ve been married, and they told me that they had been married for 63 years. Sixty-three years! Out of my own curiosity I asked them what was the secret to having a marriage last that long. This is the advice they gave paraphrased:

    1) Never go to sleep mad at each other, have time to be by yourself and cool your jets, but do not let an argument linger for more then a day.

    2) Have a sense of humor, make each other laugh.

    3) Never miss a chance to tell her you love her, but only if you mean it. 

    4) appreciate one another, never take the other person for granted.

    5) Cheating isn’t always physical, investing time and emotions with someone else is being unfaithful. 

    6) there is a difference between criticism and construction, don’t attack one another, you may have disagreements but never forget in the end you’re on the same side.

    7) Treat each other as if you were still in pursuit. Take care of each other. Never stop trying to impress the other. Always treat each other as if you were falling for the first time.

    “Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”

    -1 Corinthians 4:1-2

    As stewards of “the mysteries of God” we are responsible for the insights God has shown us about Himself. Each person has been given an experience or testimony to tell to the world. That is why it is good to have a testimony where we can express Hs leading in our lives and reveal our new discoveries about God.

    Come to think of it sometimes our personal experiences are more relative and applicable to others then the most powerful sermon. Evidence through the credibilidity of a friend’s personal experience can be powerful. Reflect intimate experiences with God that have shaped your life. Share moments that you have had with God that is of great value and significance. 

    God never asks us to believe, without giving sufficient evidence upon which to base our faith. His existence, His character, the truthfulness of His word, are all established by testimony that appeals to our reason;and this testimony is abundant. Yet God has never removed the possibility of doubt. Our faith must rest upon evidence, not demonstration. Those who wish to doubt will have opportunity; while those who really desire to know the truth will find plenty of evidence on which to rest their faith.

    We need to take time to reflect that God has given us plenty of reason to believe in Him. Faith upon evidence is a living and existing faith that is personal and real.
